Painting a shag rug.

This rug became my canvas to create my own design. The first mistake is to use the wrong style of carpet rug painting works best with a short pile or even looped carpet. I should mention i tried this and applying it with a paint brush was a huge hassle. So i have a shag rug and i started your process yesterday.

One of my favorite home diy projects to make over the past year has been painting rugs. Once i finished painting the rug i let it dry completely. The rug i painted is an indoor outdoor rug so it was stiff to begin with and the paint did not significantly change the texture. I didn t want a solid red rug.

Once i mixed the paint and fabric medium i just applied the mixture with a sponge brush. I wanted the variations of different shades of red. It took me three hours to complete a 2 foot section. Like their polypropylene counterparts polyester shag rugs are stain resistant and hypoallergenic.

My shag rug has grey stains from shoes that i can t get out. Usually images are created externally to ark and then loaded into the canvas as the quality is much better. After placing it you can doodle on it with a paintbrush or load a custom image into it. Poke a small inconspicuous corner of the rug with your finger and see if any paint comes off.

Test the rug for dryness after 8 to 10 hours. Add more coats as desired. I love taking a pattern from a pillow or even trying to recreate the same pattern from a very expensive rug. Do not just go to the scrap pile of a carpet store the odds and ends that are usually small off cuts from jobs that the customers do not wish to keep.

Mix in 1 2 drops of water for each cup of chalk finish paint to help it glide on. Does anyone know how if i can paint the rug a grey to hide the stains. I am not sure how it would affect a soft rug. The shag rug is decorative floor covering in the aberration dlc for ark.
